This was something I decided to post all over the place in hopes of avoiding the theft of layouts like we experienced on HL2U. It gives people the right to use the layout as long as it is fully intact and not altered.

No Derivative Works — You may not alter, transform, or build upon this work.

I choose this option because I get permission from artists to use their work and I usually have to also give credit and keep signatures and copyrights on the images. So people do not have rights to alter the images in any way. I'm sure people still do this but I at least I cover the bases and let them know it is not appreciated. Also, many of the images I use are "Share-alike" which means that any derivative work I make with the image must also be shared under the same or similar license.

Unless you add a note like Diamond and BarbaraMC it also means that they can "Share" — to copy, distribute and transmit the work so long as they attribute the work and give credits to the artists and a source link. Diamond and BarbaraMc state that only this site can host their layouts without their permission. Mine can be shared from another site as long as this site and all artists I use are cited. That's what the attribution part is for:

I put that only SA has permission too...I figure if I wanted lyts on other sites I would go there and post them LOL

Thanks for breaking that down, Angella!! :o) Now I'm scared to even try. Afraid I might step on someone's toes. There's so much stuff out there that it's hard to know who the originator is, anymore. But I understand where you're coming from. Can't blame you for (CYA) covering your @$$.

It's more for your protection. Nothing to be intimidated by at all. If you find an image you like use it and unless we get a notice there shouldn't be a problem. I do have some resources here:
