Gradients with CSS

Here is a handy trick to make a gradient without using an image.



To make the background of an area a gradient add this code:

.example {
color: #00AAFF;
background:-moz-linear-gradient(center top , #ffffff, #000000) repeat scroll 0 0 transparent;
background:-webkit-gradient(linear, left top, left bottom, from(#ffffff), to(#000000));
filter:progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.gradient(startColorstr='#ffffff',endColorstr='#000000');
}

background:-moz-linear-gradient(center top , #ffffff, #000000) repeat scroll 0 0 transparent;
background:-webkit-gradient(linear, left top, left bottom, from(#ffffff), to(#000000));
filter:progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.gradient(startColorstr='#ffffff',endColorstr='#000000');

You will need to add the start and end colors to three different places to work in Firefox and IE.

It is more simple then it looks. Just need to change the color codes to the ones you want.
I am moving all these from the fancy forums to here.
With the new text editor I am now able to share HTML without it vanishing.
Plus maybe more convenient for members to interact here.

You're welcome! My only advice is to not use it as a background. IE can not handle it for some reason.

I used to love using Mozilla Firefox but now I'm hooked on Google Chrome LOL :P
