Ning 3.0h No!

I'm fairly speechless and at the same time I have so much to say that I can't get it all out in one sitting...

well we have tried the N3 out and all the admins say its just not worth all the bother of not being able to make their own pages and BGs to a lot of members on our site are saying that they sooner go somewhere else! somewhere that don't look like FB or MS! :(

Here is the thing though, no where else allows personal backgrounds either. *shrugs* so what is one to do?
I have researched MANY social networks probably over 20 that are even viable and none allow personal backgrounds.

Somehow I do not feel bad about that as the BG and header play such an important part of a pages style. It is more than window dressing. I can make custom Photobuckets and video players but they have performance issues on small laptops, so my chats with others at Ning Creators group all came to the same conclusion. Even if these were available as an app to download, most small laptops would choke on hi-performance video or graphics. That is the Techno-limit that I have. Most teens and college students have a laptop at most. They have to scroll just to see the BG image.

I am hoping they change their minds and started This Discussion on the Creators site suggesting that they at least allow us to add a background and color palette. Please feel free to let them know how those on your site feel in that discussion.

I WISH THAT THEY WOULD STAY WITH THE 2.0 INSTEAD OF MAKING US MOVE. BUT NOTHING WE CAN DO ABOUT IT. CHANGE OF THE TIMES SO TO SPEAK.

Hi Carol, The group for 3.0 help and tutorials is paid access only. I'm phasing out free tutorials as my time has become extremely limited with a 7mo. old baby in the house. Any work I do for Ning will no longer be free as I will be listed in their Ning 3.0 Solution Provider Directory at a cost of $40/hr. Support and tutorials will be available only to annual donors who support our site.

Carol that year is maybe half done already, a lot of us have started our sandbox which I hope you did as well. It does take a bit of playing around but overall it is pretty easy.
