Two days without my helper Alex and these puppies have wore me out.

When will Alex be home? I know Gabe is lonesome too:}

She got home shortly after I typed that. :)
Gabe was a trooper, saying goodbye to Fessig was hard on him Sunday but he seems ok with it now.
He usually doesn't mind when she has sleep overs since he doesn't have to argue over TV or Games. lol

Today is the big glucose test day for me. I really hope I pass it, the whole blood sugar monitoring thing is annoying and expensive. Those little test strips are not cheap although the monitor is usually free.

They usually adapt to loss better than we do. I guess the good Lord just builds in that factor that they truly don't understand death (if any of us do) and it makes it easier for them. Glad Alex is home to help with the pooches and hope the blood sugar thing goes good. Did you have that problem when you were preggo with Gabe?

Yes, I had "Gestational" Diabetes with Gabe. Been watching my sugar intake this time around. With Gabe I just ate what I wanted when I wanted till I got the results. lol

I'm glad he's taking it better than I because I really would not know what to say to him if he started asking questions.

I know what you mean. And, probably having the fosters in and out helped too. He loved them when they were there but knew it was only temporary and when they left he adapted. Probably seems like pretty much the same thing to him? Dunno....hope so though. It sucks to hurt so bad over a loss.

I'll find out how the glucose test went on Thursday I guess since the Dr. has the day off tomorrow.

I'm sure you are right about the fosters helping the kids get used to animals coming and going. Sure different for me tho having him since he was itty bitty.

I know. We have a little wild rabbit that stays with us every spring and summer and has her babies here....for the last 4-5 years....I know it's the same bunny, cause she knows us each spring. We don't try to domesticate them beyond feeding/watering them because they are wild and it's for their own protection not to get too close to us....but I love em so....she had three different litters....whatever it is called with rabbits....this spring/summer. The newest one was so tiny and so cute. I told Stac it was all I could do not to run him down and just love on him. We look for them everyday and then they just go away when they get a certain age or maturity. This year the latest one was all that was left here and mama. I got home from work last night and Stac was so upset. A large hawk got my baby bunny. He said the dog started barking and having a fit and as he got to the door he said the hawk swooped down and got the bunny. He ran out the door yelling and waving his arms and the hawk dropped the bunny but Stac said he took about 5 steps and fell over...never twitched again. He buried the little fellow and was so upset with himself for being upset....he's manly you know. Broke my heart too. I run hawks off every time I see them around here, but there is no way to protect the little critters. I know it's nature and the hawk has to eat too, but I want him to leave our neighborhood.

Aww, that's so sweet. We have some rabbits who nest in our bushes and twice we have had to clean up messes from cats. We have pet rabbits, so we love them too. :(

I ran a cat off the other day....laying in wait for the baby to come out from under the storage building....it is almost flat to the ground on one end and about a foot off the ground on the high end. The bunny could easily fit in the low end but the kitty couldn't. The tom was laying ready to pounce when I got his butt. I figured he'd end up getting my bunny. Sigh. I hate it.

I came across two of the younger ones on my way home from the store last night from our bushes. Our dogs like to run them off too, cats and rabbits. lol

Got Fessig's ashes back tonight. That's been a big comfort. Not sure what to do with the little tin, but at least he's home now.
