didn't reformatt it...was going to set it back to default if I could get in but I can't...all I get is the black screen with what that guy got

are hard drives easy to take out and put back in?

Yeah, when it says "boot device," it's referring to anything it can boot from. Whether it be a Windows disc in the CD-ROM tray, a hard drive, or a USB drive, and it's saying it can't find anything to boot from, which means Windows isn't on the hard drive anymore. Usually if it's corrupt somehow, you'll get a bluescreen detailing how it's corrupt. But it seems like it isn't seeing anything bootable on the hard drive, and if no one formatted it, then it's probably dead.

Fairly easy, just keep track of what's plugged into where. The plugs can be physically tough to push in and pull out, so it might need some elbow grease behind it, just balance between "breaking it" elbow grease and "plugging it in" elbow grease. Think of it like expensive Lego and everything should be gravy.
