Red Velvet Cake (Picture for group)
I make this every christmas. Recipe was given to me by a lady that I know.
2 cups sugar
1 1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs
1 bottle red food coloring
1 tsp. cocoa
1 tsp. vinegar
2 1/2 cups plain flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp vanilla
cream together sugar, vegetable oil, and eggs. Add in red food coloring, cocoa and vinegar.
In separate bowl mix flour, baking soda, and salt. add to the mixure along with the buttermilk and vanilla. pour into 3 8 or 9 in. cake pans. bake at 350 for 35 mins.
cream cheese frosting
8 oz cream cheese
3/4 stick of margarine softened
1 box powered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
cream together cream cheese and margarine then add in powdered sugar and vanilla.
garnish the cake with pecans and cherries.
